|
The Kenya Honey Council (KHC) was formed in 2003 to give the Kenyan apiculture sector a single voice and to safeguard the activities and interests of our sector’s stakeholders. The KHC comprises of interested organisations and individuals who have come together with the common aim of developing a vibrant beekeeping industry in Kenya. Founder Members of the Kenya Honey Council:
The Kenya Honey Council is registered in Kenya. Our Activities: The Kenya Honey Council is working to promote and facilitate growth and expansion in the Kenyan bee sector to contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. The KHC is also promoting quality standards and ethical practices in the Kenyan bee sector and facilitating exchanges of information between members of the KHC, and between the KHC and similar international organisations. The KHC intends to lobby on behalf of the members of the Council with the Government for favourable policies and accompanying measures to support growth and expansion in the Kenyan beekeeping sector. It will also lobby on behalf of the members of the KHC with international governments for favourable trade terms for Kenyan bee products. Furthermore the KHC is striving to promote awareness of and education in Kenyan bee products and beekeeping in Kenya. To this end the KHC has prepared a text book intended as a reference to guide schools, agricultural clubs, colleges, researchers, CBOs and NGOs in the art of beekeeping and the development of beekeeping projects. This reference book provides background information and practical advice and guidelines to getting started in beekeeping and the marketing of hive products.
