The Tanzanian Honey Show in Dodoma, Tanzania
The Chairman of the Kenya Honey Council, Mr. Kithuma Nzainga (above), represented the Kenyan beekeeping sector at the recent Tanzanian honey show in Dodoma. Plans are underway to organise a similar event in Kenya.

Kenya Honey Council Recruitment Forum - Ngong Hills Hotel September 21st 2006
The recruitment forum held at the Ngong Hills Hotel, Nairobi was a success with a big turnout of invited guests interested in joining the Kenyan Honey Council. Participants were addressed by the Chairman, Mr Kithuma Nzainga. Presentations were also made by Mr. Matheka - a Kenyan Honey Processor, Mr Tom Carroll - a beekeeping specialist and Mr Vip Kumar a honey marketing specialist. All speakers encouraged participants to join the council and work for greater collaboration in the Kenyan beekeeping industry. A plenary session was held at the end of the forum when the Chairman and committee members were able to answer questions from invited guests.
The half day recruitment forum was officially closed by Mr. James Moinde, Deputy Director of Livestock with the Kenyan Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development and Chief of Apiculture. Mr Moinde said he was very pleased with the efforts of the Kenya Honey Council to unite the beekeeping industry in Kenya.

Other News:
The next board meeting of the council will take place in Nairobi in November 2006.
Current activities the Kenya Honey Council are working on:
- We are developing a self regulation code for the beekeeping industry in Kenya
- We are finalising the Kenya Honey Council beekeeping manual for Kenya
- We are planning for a Kenyan National Honey Show
The Kenya Honey Council was represented at the recent Tanzania National Honey Show in Dodoma and also at the African Honey Trade workshop in Uganda- an update will be given on this site soon from these events in Tanzania/Uganda - check back soon!
